This week, we revisited one of our archive projects: the incredible Mangerton House, which is nestled in the lush green hills of the English countryside & surrounded by a carefully maintained kitchen garden.
Studio MacLean originally completed the full interior design, reconfiguration & installation of this beautiful Grade II listed property in Mangerton, Dorset nearly fifteen years ago. It is a vast property with ten bedrooms, all featuring ensuite bathrooms & offers many spaces to explore, including an entertainment room & an indoor infinity swimming pool. Our favourite feature is the expansive kitchen that we designed & built from old school science lab counters, which also includes a spacious prep kitchen for chefs if required.
The purpose of our visit was to document the property, in collaboration with Chris Tubbs & to observe how it has evolved since we first worked on the project.
The grounds are charming, showcasing meticulous attention to detail in every walk, scenic view & aspect of the surrounding private gardens, walkways & woods. Down by the Oxbow Lake, at the end of the boardwalk that winds through the hazelnut grove, there is a sauna, a wood-fired hot tub & a plunge pool—a perfect spot for unwinding.
You can dine alfresco & take an invigorating dip in the natural swimming pond, which is fed by its own spring. There are cozy fire pits, a sauna & a wood-fired hot tub. We particularly enjoyed preparing pizzas by the river in a special outdoor kitchen equipped with a wood-fired pizza oven.
The countryside surrounding Mangerton offers everything you need for a wonderful holiday or celebration weekend. The house sits on 17 acres, with the Mangerton River snaking through the grounds. If you can tear yourself away, it’s only a short drive to Chesil Beach & the dramatic Jurassic cliffs overlooking Lyme Bay.
We have a fantastic long-term relationship with the owner of Mangerton, one of our longest-standing clients & have designed & delivered numerous commercial & residential projects for them. Studio MacLean spent three days at Mangerton preparing & arranging for the latest photo shoot. An abundance of pastry goods was available for the photos - we might have polished off some on the side! Perks of the job...
We captured some great new shots, so stay tuned to see them on our website & here at Mangerton House.
